Liya graduated from the University of Zambia in Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and also holds a Masters’ Degree in International Development from the International University of Japan. She is also a holder of a Postgraduate Diploma in European Competition Law.   Liya has also worked in the country’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) as Director Legal, Compliance and Enforcement.  She has extensive experience from the Regulator’s side on Mergers and Acquisitions Competition Law Advisory and Financial Regulatory Compliance combating Money Laundering.
  • Providing advice to the department of Mergers & Acquisitions at CCPC on whether to Approve  or disapprove applications requiring notification
  • Providing advice on compliance in competition law in Mergers & Acquisitions Restructuring, Takeovers.
  • Advice on competition law related matters of pricing regulations, abuse of dominance and clearances
  • Advice on financial compliance and international best practices
