Patrick is a highly experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with a particular focus on Natural Resources & Energy related issues. He has extensive experience with project development, structuring, management and documentation in Extractive Industries and Energy related share and asset transactions. Patrick holds an LLB (Hons) Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zimbabwe, a Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate and Securities Law (UNISA) and is currently pursuing a Masters in Extractive Industries Law in Africa with University of Pretoria. He underwent extensive training in Project Finance in Power projects in emerging markets in 2014 in London.
  • Advising a company listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange on the acquisition of its Battery Manufacturing Plant by a South African company with operations in Zambia.
  • Advised a company Listed on the Zimbabwe Stock exchange on a USD$ 2million transaction involving the acquisition of minority shares by the majority shareholder.
  • Legal Advisor to a Petroleum Company in Zimbabwe – in general compliance with Petroleum legislation & Marketing Licensing.
  • Advising a consortium of Real Estate developers on the development of a high and medium density residential stands project using Project finance model.
  • Advised on the acquisition of the entire shareholding of Dalny Mine which is owned by a Zimbabwe Stock Exchange Listed
  • Partial Risk Guarantee – representing an international bank in providing a partial risk guarantee supporting the obligations of the government and the transmission utility in connection with a transmission interconnector to be constructed in relation to an Independent Power Project.
  • Advised an international commodity broker in a structured finance transaction, involving the purchase of commodities from a company incorporated in the Netherlands to its subsidiary incorporated in Zimbabwe for onward sale to a related company in Malawi. The transaction was valued at USD$6M.
  • Capital Raising for a Greenfield Coal Project in Lusungo basin including renegotiation of the Special Mining Grant.
  • Advising a local co-venture in a cross border gold Mining Joint Venture between a Zimbabwean mining syndicate and a South African mining company for the exploitation of a mining business in Zimbabwe.
  • “Aguide to lenders and developers on investing in Energy in Zimbabwe” (prepared for Trinity International LLP)
  • “Regulation of Shadow Banking in Zimbabwe post BaselIII”: 2014
